Pros: Plays 5 seasons worth of spongebob one right after the other and going back to the beginning and replaying them all seamslessly, has been for a week now no turning it off. Using xvid video format. Cons: Had to format a WD passport ext HD to fat 32 limiting it to 32 gig chunks for player to be able to use it NTSF acces rights problems.
Overall Review: If your looking for an easy Media player for your child this is it, grab a cheap flash drive or in my opinion a wd passport to hold your movies and your set. I say Wd passport becuase they use a 5, rpm laptop drive and generate alot less heat and do not need outside power to work, runs off of the usb power.
Pros: Very simple to use. I showed my 9 year old daughter how to use it and hook it up and now she is doing it. Overall Review: Very simple to use and works pretty good for the price. I recommend buying this for the price and simplicity. Pros: Brought this for my father so he can watch movies on his older tvs. Product is very simple to use, took me 10 min to show him how to use it. Cons: Nothing so far, power cord is a bit short for the media set up we have but that's just me, i like to conceal my wires.
Overall Review: looks good, works good cant complain for the price really. Oh it's picky about the format the clip is in, not a big deal just need to get a converter. Pros: Received the RMA replacement today. This one has no problems. I loaded a few movies and photos onto a usb flash drive and tried it out.
I like the ability to skip around from movie to movie, the fast forward, reverse, zoom and the ability to turn photos. The remote is easy and complete. There's no need to go through the on screen menu as buttons for "Movie, Picture and Music" give a list of those types of files. If you want to use this with a digital converter on a tv with one set of inputs you'll need an input switcher of some kind.
Does not support mp4. It can seem to hang if you ask it to do something it can't do. Of course I tried some stuff at random, wouldn't you?
A power off from the remote will take a few seconds to work in that case. Then power on and it's fine. For this price you can't beat the capabilities. I'd recommend it to friends and family. Cons: When play a number of pictures, MP3 songs, or movies, it is not start from first one and playing according to file name ordering.
It is always random playing. It has to be manually selecting one by one. It is almost useless. Pros: Just received this player, it was set on VGA couldn't get it to work on my TV, then put batteries in the remote and changed the output, dah Cons: No real Cons. Overall Review: If you are looking for a player to see movies on your TV that you downloaded from the Internet, this is the one.
I would highly recommend this player for all uses and plan on ordering at least one more for our bedroom. Firmware can be upgraded, but there are no files available from the support area of their website.
Overall Review: I'm wondering if Twonky might be "recommended" for managing and indexing the data base. It's not required for this to work, but if the indexing was handled by a pc with more horsepower, it might make this more enjoyable to use. Currently, if I transfer a movie to the server, I have to power cycle unplug power the unit for it re-index and locate then new movie file. Nice amount of ports.
Small size can be put anywhere. Comes with HDMI cord which is a big bonus and also comes with Component wires as well as audio wires. The menu is very simple and very easy to navigate through as well as adjusting any settings.
For the price this media player does better than other more expensive media players as far as playing more formats, HDMI p ready, comes with all the wires as you don't have to purchase seperate. Encore gets two thumbs up for this device. Remote works fine, had no problems with it. Cons: Streaming video can be a bit sluggish at times so the video gets a bit choppy at times but I have no problems streaming at night. Overall Review: If your looking for a media player but are confused as to how much to pay for one This is a great one to start with!
It's cheap and does exactly what it says it does and I'm completely pleased with it. I may check out the more expensive ones but so far this one is perfectly fine! I have heard and read some bad reviews from the more expensive media players I think this is a great one. Pros: Small, with lots of ports. Comes with hdmi and lots of other cords. Plug and play, recognized both flash and my cirago gig portable drive that I bought to go with it right away.
Overall Review: I had an initial problem with the remote, it would not recognize it. I had to fiddle with the batteries, and to my great relief it worked, but this took me about 20 minutes. So far, no problems, it seems to play anything I've loaded into it I bought it specifically to watch movies and play music so it's perfect for me.
Easy navigation screen. Cons: It gave me a very poor picture, tried many settings and configurations, no deal. Overall Review: I just sent it back, didn't see anyway of updating firmware. Shawn G. Verified Owner. None of that lag you get from other video devices dvd, cable, etc Cons: -Poorly designed remote with tiny buttons is difficult to navigate without looking at it. Did you?
Yes No. Cons: -No wifi -Need special streaming software Twonky Media Manager currently not available -Doesn't seem to power down external drive when shut down this could be that I have a cheap Seagate drive, but I don't think so -Poorly configured remote with tiny buttons Overall Review: First off I should say I love this thing. Overall Review: Sending back and getting a WD unit. Did you find this review helpful?
George G. Charles W. Outstanding device for the price! Cons: Remote is a little tacky. James M. Pros: I could get most my money back.
