Another child from Pallet Town that wants the opportunity to prove herself just as worthy. I liked the original volumes this story was published in but these new collections are really nice. They have a good weight and heft to them. Nice paper and inks.

Still these are really nice collections and definitely the way to collect the series. Nov 08, Kacey rated it did not like it. I really don't like how fast it's pacing goes, like almost to the point that I feel like it's skipping a lot of detail. Either way. I'm not sure I'd try to sit down and read this again. I've been routinely coming back to it and trying to read just a little at a time while I've had it checked out from the library, but that hasn't helped me get through it.

It's just not for me! Jun 17, Patrick rated it it was amazing. This first collection follows the same idea as the tv and games. It's not the one I preferred as a kid, but re-reading those few PA issues I had as a kid here in this collected edition brought a smile to my face.

Mato's art is serviceable and cute and honors the game's spirit, also, with forms akin to their OG boxy sprites. I'll be giving the two other volumes he illustrated a chance as re-reading this made me feel like a giddy 6th grader all over again. Sep 15, Sarah rated it it was amazing. Awwwww I love this!

At every turn it felt like there was the threat of death, torture, or actual death. It was cute, wholesome, high stakes, and exciting. Needs more sandshrew. Oct 31, Zachary White rated it it was amazing.

Pokemon has always been some but this story takes a story everyone known and adds changes that makes it a lot more interesting. Some of the gym leaders are on team rockets sided and leads to intense battles. Even though the ending is predictable the adventure Red goes through is amazi g and definitely will re-read it. I loved the character growth. I will for sure be picking up volume two of this collector's edition. It took me ages to read this but it was a great experience. Often I read one or two chapters a day or so randomly. It was a nice part of my day oftentimes.

Jun 02, Cameron Deavin rated it really liked it. Pokemon Adventures is buckwild. Despite the similarity in appearance between the protagonists, it's absolutely nothing like the anime. Pokemon straight up die. An Arbok gets violently cut in half. Eight Out of Ten, would Pikachu again.

Jul 28, Chelsea Best rated it really liked it Shelves: This 3 in 1 was a great way for me to try out reading the original pokemon storyline. I really liked it. I think it took me way longer than usual to read though, due to it being for children, but I really liked seeing how it was actually envisioned originally. Very dark and gritty compared to the anime. Which i love about it!

Cannot wait to pick up the next volume someday! Oct 23, Katelynn rated it really liked it Shelves: manga-shelf , books-read. How different this is from the anime I grew up watching! It makes me wonder why Green was never in the anime and why the gym leaders were never part of team rocket.
