Needless to say if the next update cuts out component output I will be canceling my Subscription - I wonder how many other people lost their HDMI connection with this update.

Surely Sky have to warrant their software in the same way that they warrant their hardware. If they have automatically downloaded a new firmware to your box, and that appears to have caused problems - perhaps with your specific version of the box - then they are liable to resolve it. You should speak with them, and ask them to retransmit to your box the previous version of the firmware that was on it, and this one appears to have 'broken' the HDCP on the box. When they say no, they can't possibly do that, just ask them for a replacement box, as it is [definitely] their automatic firmware upgrade that has broken it.
