The members have been very welcoming to both of us, and we now enjoy regular playing groups and participating in competitions. I would very much like to contribute to the club by serving on the executive committee where I can be of assistance. I have been a Canadian Certified Public Accountant for approximately 42 years. Prior to establishing my public accounting practice my business experience included entrepreneurial ownerships in restaurants, pubs, picture framing galleries, photofinishing labs, ready mix concrete plants, and commercial construction enterprises.

Along the way, I gained a great deal of valuable business experience which I used to build the consulting side of my accounting practice. I inherited a commitment to volunteerism from my father, who contributed greatly to the early credit union movement in Toronto. Some of my volunteer activities have included: Currently serve as President of Aves Del Paraiso, a 62 unit condominium project in San Antonio, Tlayacapan. I played at Gorge Vale Golf Club from until an injury forced me to retire from active play in I also served on the finance committee for several terms, including the years where we expanded the club by selling land and using the proceeds to build new greens, bunkers, and install an improved drainage system.

My wife Jenny and I moved down from Utah to Ajijic two and a half years ago, after a single visit convinced us that the Lakeside area had everything we wanted. We have two grown daughters Claire and Rachel, who inherited our expat genes and are currently living happily in Australia. I enjoyed a lifelong career in Financial Services that spanned 44 years, 3 continents and many varied roles, starting out as a trading floor specialist on the London Stock Exchange in to retirement from a financial advisory practice in Utah in My husband Brian and I visited Lakeside for a couple of weeks in and immediately fell in love with the people, the environment, and the lifestyle.

As avid golfers, we eagerly met with golf personnel and various members of a few courses in the area. The instant we visited Country Club de Chapala, we knew it was the Club for us! Over the years, I have demonstrated a passion for leadership in most of my involvements, including golfing. During that time, I volunteered in various leadership roles for a variety of golfing events at the Club.

This was a rewarding experience for me as I was constantly astounded by the resilience of these children and the courage of their families. Additionally, volunteering with Make-A-Wish connected me with a community of kind, caring and loving individuals. Perhaps not coincidentally, that describes the feelings Brian and I have experienced upon becoming Lakeside residents, and particularly the spirit of camaraderie and fun at the Country Club de Chapala.

Quite simply, we are home. In business, I spent most of my working years in the sales industry, which involved frequent, large-scale event planning. For 23 years, I co-owned and operated a large sales and distribution company, leading a sales team of Consultants and 45 Sales Managers. I organized and conducted weekly motivational sales meetings, as well as training sessions and annual conferences, developing creative themes for all events. These responsibilities also required me to book conference facilities and hotel rooms for all attendees, coordinate guest speakers, organize and supervise the setup for each function, work with caterers, handle last-minute crises and occasionally navigate some conflict resolution.

Thank you again for considering me for Board Membership. I believe I am a strong fit for the opportunity, based on my experience, passion and leadership, as well as my organizational and planning skills. Butcher shop feets. Half an hour south of the metropolitan zone, grand, cloud-tipped Lake Chapala and its diadem of shoreline villages—Chapala, San Antonio, Ajijic, San Juan Cosala, and more—make up the celebrated Chapala Riviera. These include comfortable lodgings and restaurants, handicrafts and fine-arts shops, music and dramatic events, social and charitable organizations and plenty of swimming, tennis, golf, walking and hiking opportunities.

Boats at Chapala town line up at the pier, ready to take parties to historic Mezcala Island, stopping on the return at Alacranes Island for lunch. Kayaking is possible from most anywhere along the lakeshore. Interesting stops in Chapala town include the colorful lakefront Parque Cristiana. Likewise, in Ajijic, be sure to pause at the shady town plaza and the scenic pier.
